Hey everyone! We are back for another discovery writing session! Tonight I want to try and feel Talia during a battle. I really want to see what fire she has in her or what compassion she may have. I want to push her to her physical limit. Why not to some world building too, maybe get some lore? Let’s see how it shakes out! And of course, the amazing sketch shown is from none other than Matt Flint! https://www.facebook.com/theartofmattflint/
The Veldarian drums roared through the forest, their booming shaking everyone’s core. Blood was going to be shed that day, Talia was certain of it. Yet, that fact did not make her future actions any easier to bare with. The essence within her surged and flared causing wisps of raw energy to blitz from her eyes. Talia’s shade drenched purple eyes focused on the layout before her. Similar to a war game Dotar once taught her, the two armies were prepared on either side of the tangling plant life.
To one side, the crimson warriors of the Veldarian lands bellowed and growled. The rumors spoke of their high priests staining the skin of newborns with the blood of weaker children. To Talia, that’s all they were, rumors. She had no time to care of their customs, she came to make sure one particular Veldarian elite warrior saw his end.
Opposite the gnarled mess of vines and trees stood the Silent Men of the Shallows. The few merchants that braved their lands would often speak of never seeing a woman among these forgotten men. The Shallows were shrouded in ancient magic and mystery, but on thing was known, the men only ever left to die.
Talia absorbed the view through her focused eyes high above the armies. The final thunderous blast from the drum signaled the beginning of battle. Before the rumble from the drum ended the earth shook as both warriors launched toward their deaths. The clash was instant. Men threw themselves at one another, bones splintered and blood flashed across the air. One warriors commands were drowned out by another, chaos had began to play its song. Talia knew this was her time to strike.
In a flash, gravity pulled the falling elf to the ground hard and fast. Landing in silence among the men, Talia began to work. Her blade flicked free from its sheath and met its first victim. The blade drank deep from the Silent Man, to Talia’s surprise, he remained silent even in death. In between her heart beat, two more men fell, their hands grasping their throats. Dodging and diving through mountains of muscle, Talia picked her prey wisely. She did not get into battles she did not need to.
The essence within Talia continued to fight it’s prison. It begged for freedom and for the taste of blood. Growing envious of Talia’s blade, her essence began to fight harder. Focus soon became a trial for her amidst the battle, she knew her internal struggle would be over soon.
“Where are you?” Talia cut through her teeth, she knew her time was coming to an end. Soon the essence would be doing the work.
“Make these men of silence scream for their bitches!” A large red man bellowed.
Talia found her target, but her time was up. The world went violet as she darted her way toward her goal. The men that stood in her path sprayed blood as arcs of energy lashed out and dissected their bodies. The behemoth of a man watched in horror as the elf flashed from one mist of blood to the next. At moments, he was certain he saw two additional arms spring out from her.
“A wielder!? Here! No!” The Veldarian elite warrior had seen a ghost.
Reaching for his horn, the giant man took a deep breathe and blew into the open air. It took several moments for the man to realize their was no horn in front of his face. Instead, it lay on the blood soaked ground accompanied by his clenched hand, purple vapor rising from the severed end.
“Please, whatever it is you desire, it is yours!” The Veldarian man begged. It was no use, the elf before him was no longer Talia. Pure essence hummed and sang as it swirled around her. The death song it whispered was only heard by the warrior with one arm.
So I am going to stop here, I don’t know how I feel about the essence taking her over and what not, seems a little too used already. Leave a comment and let me know what you guys are thinking!
