As most of you know, I am currently in the process of writing and soon finishing a novel. It is a Sci-fi/Fantasy story about a group of characters that take on galaxy ending events, but what sci-fi novel isn’t about that. Below I will be doing some off the top discovery writing to get a feel for my main character. Most of you guys have read the first 3 chapters, but if you haven’t! Here it is! The Androse Files Chapters 1-3
Hope you guys enjoy! Feel free to comment and ask any questions, or to let me know that you actually read these posts haha!
“So what exactly am I looking at?” Zeke asked the bundled up alien to his right.
“Did you not listen to the planetary brief? What on Galza were you doing during the meeting?”
No answer came from Zeke, his focus was torn between the blistering cold and the astonishing sight before him. Through harsh winds and snowy twisters left in their wake, a giant spectacle of lights were dancing on the horizon.
“This is like back home.” The words forced his freezing mouth open.
“Incorrect statement.” The alien rebutted. “On your planet, Earth, the spectacle you are referring to is a direct result of energized electrons entering the atmosphere.”
“Thanks….not like I already knew that.” Zeke’s words were harsher than the cold.
“May I resume now?” Raxil’s annoyance didn’t need to be seen under his clothing. “On your home planet, the reaction is a peaceful one. On this planet, the atoms are fighting one another for existence. The glorious light show you are witnessing is simply the losing atoms deaths.” He stated matter of factually.
“Listen, I’m just a mechanic, but even I know that atoms don’t have motives to fight, and shouldn’t there be more, you know, nuclear explosions when atoms die?” Zeke teased.
“Rule number one of planetary exploration kid, throw all preconceived notions out the window. In our home star system, space works a certain way; bet your ass it’s far different than any other star system.” Jackson spoke from behind the two gawkers.
“But captain, that literally makes no sense.” Zeke turned to face the burly man.
“Nothing does kid, that’s why we are here doing what we do. Weren’t you paying attention during the brief?”
“I…well…” He tried to answer, but was cut short.
“He was probably palpitating over the female.” Raxil shot his comment in faster than Zeke could register.
“If your race has a hell, you can go there.” Luckily the layers of thermo-suit covered Zeke’s red face.
“Save the banter for chow time, we have research to conduct.” Captain Jackson’s word was final.
This was just a quick little back and forth for Zeke. I am trying to figure out his smart ass attitude while still hitting the other personality emotions. Let me know what you guys think!
