Good Afternoon! I hope the past days have been great for you! This past weekend was crazy as I assisted in hosting a Dungeons and Dragons event. Below you will find an untitled Chapter from my fantasy project!
The jarl stared into the night sky, below him the village slept. The air was cold from the snow storm that blasted through the village that morning. To the Jarl’s pleasure, the sky was clear, allowing the stars to shine down on him and his guest.
“It’s not every day I have such a strange tale at my doors. If my nephew wasn’t in the forest to see it first hand, you wouldn’t have this audience. Speak and make it quick.” The Jarl didn’t break his focus from the thousands of stars that painted the world of the gods above him.
“Jarl Roth, I thank you for this opportunity and appreciate your willingness to grant me audience.”
“I said make it fast Taybus.” The Jarl’s tiredness weighed on his voice.
“I seek a boy, my apprentice. We were separated in the Norvik Woods, outside your survey. I humbly ask your assistance in searching for him.” Taybus stood behind the Jarl, bare chested and unmoving in the cold night. His skin was kissed with splatters of blood and dirt.
“He’s dead, the Norvik Woods are unrelenting. Not to mention overrun with Runewalkers. Your boy is dead, go find a new apprentice.”
“Jarl Roth, I kindly disagree, he’s different.”
“He’s a boy! He’s gone, find another to make your apprentice. Not only do you dilute yourself by thinking some untrained, flickerless runt could survive on his own, regardless of where, but you dare waste my time to ask me for assistance! Men with more feats than you beg for my time and leave disappointed.”
“Yurik.” Taybus let the name hang for a moment. “There is one person alive that knows who you are.” Taybus turned to leave the Jarl. “I apologize for wasting your time.”
The Jarl was left alone with the stars and his thoughts. Continues on Patreon.
