Writetober Day 25 (Splat)

Day 25

Splat

Light began to shred and tear at the black fabric that enveloped the world.  The sky was a canvas of purples colliding and swirling with pink and orange hues as the sun rose from its slumber.  In the distance thunder echoed in protest as dark clouds worked to suffocate the sun’s awakening light.

The night’s grip relaxed as it gave way to the morning, it’s battle to keep the sun at bay was at its end.  The cloud’s battle had just begun as it rumbled with hatred, its winds erupted toward the rising sun.  The sky filled with proud light as oppressive clouds rolled in to snuff the radiance from those that lived on the world far below the feverish battle.

The trees below trembled and swayed in the violent battle that raged above them.  Their cries and cheers fell on the deaf ears of the sun’s glorious face.  The inhabitants of the forests scurried and huddled into the closest safety they could find as the trees that loomed above them creaked beneath the billowing winds.  High above the forest, dense clouds of hatred continued their battle against the light, their echoes of thunderous yells erupted across the buildings below.

“Looks like a storm today.”  The small human wiped a small drop of rain that splattered on his face.

The enormous clouds above roared in response to the insignificant man’s words.  It’s anger filled the air with the scent of water as its pregnant belly unleashed a torrent of water on the world below.  The pitter patter of steady rain quickly formed into a relentless splattering of jettisoned water drops.

The storm’s rage unleashed flashes of light and quaking blasts of sound as it fought its two front war.  The day had just started, but the night’s darkness continued beneath the sheets of rain that splattered across the world.
