Good morning all! Today I wanted to start off by showing you an 8 page comic I had the pleasure of writing. I worked alongside a talented artist located in Syracuse NY. Matt Flint had an amazing opportunity to get his art featured in an anthology. He reached out to me and I assisted him in getting his vision written out. I hope you all enjoy!
The Loop
Page 1
Panel 1
A nice big shot of a war ravaged space area, destroyed ship parts floating in space. For contrast show a planet in the background. This is a heavy imagery panel. Amongst the debris, show the missile rocketing through space. Don’t make it focal point, but make it seen. Same as the deactivated angel.
Narration Box: “Orylus System”
Narration Box: “Time: 14:32 Sol”
Speech box: “Alert! Cluster rockets in vesinity.”
Panel 2
A small panel of a close-up of the closed “dead” angel eyes.
Panel 3
The view is from behind the angel, over her should. We see the missiles tearing through space and the debris, zeroing in on her. Other missiles will have exploded materializing the large chunks of debris.
Speech box: “Target lock-on detected. Engaging systems reboot.”
Panel 4
A small panel of angels closed eyes close up. HER EYES ARE STILL CLOSED.

Panel 1
The missile is now much closer. The view will be of the “dead” angel to the left of the panel and the rocket racing towrd her on the right of the panel.
Speech box: “Error! Primary systems offline.”
Speech box: “Activating emergency telemetry. Time warp initiated.”
Panel 2
Close up of angels eye. It is open glowing and shining its light.
Panel 3
The missile flys through space past where the angel was. Where she would have been there is a color fizzle that remains.
Speech Box: “Time Warp successful.”

Narrator Box: “Orylus System.”
Narrator Box: “Time: 14:12 Sol.”
Illiyah is sitting up on her cot in her room. She looks displeased and uncertain of what she just dreamed. You can see confusion or worry on her face. In this panel show the room that you described.
Illiyah speech bubble: “That felt real.”
Tadio Speech bubble: “Illiyah! We got knocked off course. We have to drop from hyperspace.”
Panel 2
Illiyah is about to bolt out of her door and into the hallway as she is responding to her com.
Radio Speech bubble: “We will have to manually redirect once we drop into the Orylus System.”
Illiyah Speech bubble: “Damnit, I’m on it.”
Panel 3
Illiyah is in her cockpit flipping switches and smashing buttons. Obviously we are only allowed to see one action per panel for this.
Illiyah speech bubble: “Alright you hunk of junk, let’s see what happened.”
Illiyah speech bubble: “Gregory, I’m exiting hyperspace in 3…2…”

Panel 1
Illiyah’s eyes are wide in shock at the scene before her. We only see her eyes open and terrified.
Illiyah’s speech bubble: “1…”
Panel 2
We see convoy ships getting obliterated as Illiyah’s ship is trying to maneuver through the destruction. We will know Illiyah’s ship because it will have a speech bubble coming from it. Take the space you need for this “oh shit” panel of her warping into utter chaos. We can have smaller speech bubbles of the convoy ships screaming for help. Gregories ship will be maneuvering on a collision course with her.
Illiyah’s speech bubble: “Evasive maneuvers! Gregory, what the hell is this!”
Gregory speech bubble: “Shit if I know! I have lost maneuvering thrusters! Illiyah I can’t change direction!”
Panel 3
The two ships collide in space tearing Illiyah’s ship apart. To not have to show too much detail, like in panel 2, have a closer shot of the two ships colliding.

Panel 1
We see Illiyah’s ship exploding from the impact. The explosion is leading from the rear. The force of the explosion thrusts Illiyah’s body through the glass that covers the front of her ship, erupting her into volatile space.
Panel 2
Illiyah’s lifeless body floats in the graveyard floating all around her. We will have the rest of the convoy ships exploding and speech bubbles screaming for help. Save room for speech bubbles by some ships.
Panel 3
Two enemy space ships course through the debris to make their way to the lifeless body of Illiyah.
Enemy bubble: “Target acquired.”
Enemy 2 bubble: “Engaging target.”
Panel 4
Zoomed in shot of Illiyah’s eyes, shot open.
Speech box: “Proximity alert, war protocol activated.”

Full page spread. Illiyah awakens in her war mode, decked out awesome view of Illiyah among the destroyed chaos.

Different shots of Illiyah obliterating and destroying fighter ships among these 3 panels. Have fun with them.
Panel 3
A missile hits Illiyah in the back knocking her out of focus.
Panel 4
Another missile blasts into Illiyah, taking her offline.

Mirror the opening shot of Illiyah drifting in space from page 1.

Panel 1
We have a view from over the shoulder of a large figure standing in a cockpit surrounded by others sitting at screens. Think like starship enterprise. We don’t see him, but we do see what he is looking at. Illiyah’s lifeless body.
Bad guy speech bubble: “Destroy it. Destroy that thing.”
Panel 2
We are watching this from the same view as panel 1. The missile is streaking toward Illiyah, same as page 1.
Panel 3
Same view, watching from the ship of the bad guy. The missile is closer, almost about to hit her as blue light fizzes around Illiyah.
Panel 4
The missile streaks past where Illiyah was floating. A small blue light remains behind.
Bad guy speech bubble: “Find it..NOW!”
